Inside the dissonance of the Silver City Palace, Saeris's encounter with the Immortal Queen Magda's captain, Harron, turns deadly. Kingfisher, aka Death, saved her from the captain's handiwork and brought her to Yvelia to heal after she activated the quicksilver to open the portals. He's completely grumpy and more than slightly mad. A madness that is only a baited by wearing a relic in the form of a pendant. Saeris finds herself awaken in the Winter Palace in Yvelia. She learns that Fae are truly real and not just bedtime stories told to children to keep them in line.

Saeris finds being a human submerged into a world that she only thought of as folklore dizzying, but the shock quickly fades as she is thrusted into a world of politics and war with different types of Fae, Feeders, all shades of monsters, God Bindings, and true mating bonds.

There is lots of sexual build-up between Saeris and Kingfisher. A true enemies to lovers, that first kiss in the forge was everything, left no crumbs. The sexual tension is delicious, and the first time they are together is chef's kiss. I gobbled those pages up and didn't want them to end. Inlove his nickname for her, Osha and the meaning behind it is perfect.

There is so much intricate world building in this fast-paced read. If you love enemies to lovers, this one is definitely for you. I couldn't put it down. I LOVED every minute of this addictive read. I am so upset that I have to wait until the fall of 2025 to read book 2.
