যেদিন আমি চলে যাব, সেদিন হয়ত বা বড় বড় সভা হবে। কত প্রশংসা কত কবিতা বেরুবে হয়ত আমার নামে। দেশপ্রেমী,ত্যাগী,বীর,বিদ্রোহী- বিশেষনের পর বিশেষন। টেবিল ভেঙে ফেলবে থাপ্পর মেরে। বক্তার পর বক্তা। এই অসুন্দরের শ্রদ্ধা নিবেদনের প্রার্থ্য দিনে বন্ধু তুমি যেন যেও না। যদি পার চুপটি করে বসে আমার অলিখিত জীবনের কোন একটি কথা স্মরণ কোর। তোমার ঘরের আঙিনায় বা আশেপাশে যদি একটি ঝরা পায়ে পেষা ফুল পাও, সেইটিকে বুকে চেপে বোল বন্ধু আমি তোমায় পেয়েছি। তোমাদের পানে চাহিয়া বন্ধু আর আমি জাগিব না, কোলাহল করে সারা দিনমান কারো ধ্যান ভাঙিব না। নিশ্চল নিশ্চুপ আপনার মনে পুড়িব একাকী গন্ধবিধুর ধূপ।”
