"It just hit me why I'm struggling to read this despite it being quite mysterious and drip-feeding intriguing puzzle pieces: for large gaps between bits that seem like something's happening, it's a lore dump. I like a good lore dump, love reading d&d lore books, but it's a "time and place" thing for me personally, and it feels like it's making everything stand still.
