A throng of small stories of more or less ordinary people, false prophets or brightest minds of Soviet Russia being dealt by the rules of the stupid people. Carefully orchestrated (ridiculous , when you think about it) public trials with the most important of part of Russian nation: the intelligence, university students and teachers, good leaders who were a target of envy from the useless communists. The time of their capture, unbelievable conditions in prisons and during transports to Gulag (you think a bucket as a toilet is disgusting? Imagine 80 people in a cell WITHOUT a bucket) this is not a book of beautiful fiction but a sharp reality of an era. Not an easy read, not a nice read, but everyone should read a bit of it and think about a part of Russia which is responsible for it. 5 stars with a hope I will gather enough strength to start the next part...more
