“Here are the nonnegotiables in parenting I feel pretty confident all psychologists agree on:  Take care of the mental health of the primary caregiver.  Do not engage in physical or emotional abuse.  Do not neglect a child.  Commit to habits of consistent sleep, movement, and nourishment.  Establish clear Rules that enable emotional and physical safety.  Be sensitive (which we will define) to your child’s needs (which are not the same thing as their “wants”).”
