Finally got to it to see what they hype was all about and man it was good! However, I think I was expecting there to be more, and I'm guessing I will see the proper hype once I finish reading the second book which I AM VERY EXCITED ABOUT! Overall the storyline is good and pretty much like a typical fantasy book with just a different world. No hate though because I absolutely ate it up and absolutely loved the characters. There weren't many plot twists which I usually really like in books and they keep me going to finish a book but overall this was still a good book. The more I reminisce on it the more I ended up liking it.

There were so many scenes I was screaming and giggling over. The banter is great and the characters have an amazing sense of humor. ARIN IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could talk about him the whole day. From the moment he appeared I was like YUP I LOVE THIS MAN! Even though I felt like I shouldn't have liked him so much right off the bat cause he was lowkey kinda mean to Sylvia and how he was such a "know it all" and knew right away about her lies. His geniusness was rubbing off on our faces everywhere but still I really really liked him, it's hard not to like him. He's so calculated and smart about everything he does, the perfectionism he has, and how he just knows he'll get it right, the confidence in himself is absolute cinema. How he actually cares about the people of his kingdom unlike his father is so cute. His character is written so well and so easy to picture (honestly all the characters are, their description and writing is amazing). Sylvia is an amazing character too and seeing her perspective on everything was very fun to read however Arin still my favourite :)

The other side characters were also amazing, Arin's guards (I really liked Jeru because he was one of the only ones who was actually nice to Sylvia, even though Wes and Ren (I was actually kinda sad when Red died) weren't bad either. But Jeru was nicer). I'm really exited to read more about Sefa and Marek in the next book. Sefa is so kind and caring absolutely love that girl and Marek is literally so funny I loved how he lit the mood up (usually). Vaun pissed me off so many times but I also get where he's coming from. He just wants to protect Arin especially since the incident with Soraya. When Sylvia said that Arin is to Vaun what Sefa is to Marek it made so much sense. Sefa is so so sooooo important to Marek which we see throughout the book so it makes sense the things Vaun would do for Arin even if it goes against Arin's wishes just to protect him. ...more "
