Yep. I speed-read this like I was going for gold in an Olympic sport.
Really enjoyed Jen’s writing style and was pleasantly surprised as I was just expecting pure 🌶️👀 and you know what, it wasn’t that bad. I’ve read worse-looking at you, CM Stunich!!Yep. I speed-read this like I was going for gold in an Olympic sport.

The whole maiden thing, ugh, like why’s the bloke always the playboy and the female is all pure and innocence. But, yano, I can get over that as it’s kind of pivotal to the whole plot. One thing I will say, virginity be damned, she’s a kick-ass fighter!!! Hallelujah, praise the Lord. A lady who can fight!!
I too, would find it hard not to punch Hawke in his pretty little smug face.
Somewhat predictable plot but hey, I also go for gold when spoiling films, shows, and books by correctly guessing the direction they’re heading in. It’s a real bitch of a talent!
Some of the dialogue is tedious and cringe, and the super-duper descriptions become unnecessary. Like I get it ok, he’s got nice eyes. Just say that. “Hawke has nice eyes”. Done. Instead it’s all “they’re like windows into his soul and like pools of water I could dive in day after day…” vom. I’m especially sure it wasn’t his eyes that captivated our Poppy either. So setting the cringe aside, the tension-building was pretty well done. In a roundabout “imma just be a hoe” kind of way 🤣 we all saw where it was going!
Intrigued to see how the *gasps* plot develops. I know, I’m shocked too, there is actually a plot!! And it’s a good one!...more
