I didn't read it till the end, I had to return it at the library, and really didn't like the part where the Saint of the books goes to see a prostitute and tells a whole damn story about how having an orgasm in a prostitute is like dying... and women kill men during this orgasm ofzo... Not my vibe. Not that I'm against prostitution, but it just doesn't sit well with me the way Boeli portrayed women here. We are not simply vessels for your seed or pleasure or children, and I don't speak for all but I think women prostitute out of necessity, and would otherwise prefer not to.. And a proclaimed "empathic altruist" who does well for all goes to supports this complex and maybe problematic industry??? Not sure... ANyways Other than that a was a good book. By a white setteler none the less. Uses the word "neger" too much (it shouldn't be used at all, HONESTLY), but that also still happens in current Netherlands. BUUUUT I read this book and I told a whole ass tale of two dudes, but what really got to me, and what I simply loved is how Boeli tackled the question of empathizing with our co-human brotheren (sisteren!!). Boeli used the detailed examples of these two men their lives to show us something very profound about, compassion, altruism, and caring for our co human. THat made this book an amazing read. If the current word as we know it and I survive this cov*d 1 9, I will go back to OBa and I will read it again. THanks Boeli boy xoxoxxxxx...more
