Open Season is a solid, grounded start to the series, with its modern western feel and the rural Wyoming setting really carrying the story. The pacing is slow but works, letting the tension build naturally through the setting and characters rather than relying on big twists. It’s atmospheric, easy to sink into, and by the end, I was definitely curious to keep going.

I really enjoy this book so far. I like the way he writes; it keeps me very entertained. There are so many plot twists in the first 12 chapters. I liked how there was an immediate mystery in the first chapter.
