I love how author Y. S. Lee weaves real historical facts about the plight of women in the Victorian era into her story. She includes women and girls from various social and economic backgrounds, showing that family wealth did not protect them from a lack of agency. Even with history intertwined throughout the story, it is still an easy and enjoyable read.
