there has been so much good and interesting stuff so far that i probably should have written down. i have been annotating but it is going to take forever to finish and then go back through sigh

The writing in this book is stellar. I’m starting to realize that as the book goes along, Herr starts to become absorbed into the cultural fold of Vietnam. He’s using more dehumanizing language, quickly identifying more of the things you can only properly identify when you’re acclimated into the environment. Starting to realize what this book is, and I’m really happy to revisit it. Hope to finish this week.
