Status Updates From The Flame and the Flower

I do not understand Heather's reactions sometimes. Brandon doesn't say anything remotely hurtful and just asks a question, yet Heather goes into crying hysterics for absolutely no reason. I'm just completely confounded by her behavior sometimes. And I'm not really understanding the appeal of Brandon yet. He reads like the bro-magas who think they are alpha.

This book is making me ill

I am unimpressed with the fatphobia, but considering when it was written, not surprising. I don't like DNFing, but this one may be one. Neither main character is particularly sympathetic, but especially the MMC. I'd also forgotten how rapey old bodice rippers were, though surely this one is egregious, even for the time it was written.

I hate it all. Burn it down.

Read this many, many years ago and loved it. Re-reading it now as part of a read along with Ripped & Ravished Book Club (through today's eyes and accepted practices.)

This book has a real vibe. The kind of vibe you need to be in the mood for, or at least prepare to be in the mood for.

It's a surprisingly good story so far, even with the problematic aspects.

Come on, don’t be stupid grad something valuable so you aren’t destitute. Also it feels weird that this is a graphic romance book where she’s 17 when stuff starts happening, although being assaulted by a man at any age is possible (any man who assaults a woman should have his dick cut off) this is fiction and the author could have picked a more acceptable age according to modern standards for the FMC

Okay, good to know that she’ll be 18 in a month at the start of this book 😑

I fear the red flags are being overlooked…..by me……….👀😩🤪🥰😋
