Ugh if there werent a dearth of books on history of africa Id probably drop this…no focus on social/larger political histories at all. Just a series of ancedotes on how african leaders have messed up. Sure thats part of the story but definitely not all of it

Genuinely one of the best nonfiction books I've ever read this is insane - I should read about pre-colonial Africa next

Why the fuck have I only ever heard of Nelson Mandela before, these other political figures are insanely interesting - can't help but feel Nyerere sounds lowkey goated but I don't know if things will change as I progress in time through this book....

I wish I would've locked in and started reading earlier because this book is so addicting but way too large to lug on the plane...... unless......
