Oooohhh... Aaaand I think I'm done. While talking to his best friend Kale (could we not have thought of names that had more than one consonant different in the pronunciation?) says, "Okay. Call me later."

You know? I don't know a lot of straight adult males who say this to each other, shortly after dishing about that hot new girl in town. It's a little too "Written by a Teenage Girl" for me.

No man made her react this way, not even Steven; the man she once loved... before he decided he needed someone younger, prettier, and skinnier. Sure, she wasn't model thin. Her lips had a little natural pout to them, and her legs seemed somewhat long, but overall, she didn't think she was ugly or anything

Ah, the curse of the myopic ingenue. Must suck to be you, you gawky thing you.

See? Here's an example:

"Now what the hell am I going to do? It's still a hell of a long walk to town and its snowing like crazy," she grumbled...

The first sentence... m'kay. Sure. I'd totally say that out loud by myself. I definitely would never say the second sentence aloud if I was by myself. Maybe that is just me but it reads extremely unrealistic.

Ooohh, this book is not off to a great start. The primary character speaks aloud when most people, even those of us who talk to ourselves, would be thinking and/or cursing instead of speaking our every thought out into the ether.
