I'm listening to this as an audio book; I just learned that the physical book includes many photographs. I found this out after I decided to look up the main characters in the book on Wikipedia and saw photographs myself. Seeing the faces of these slave traders, and the actual buildings they operated out of really brought the events described in this book to life for me.
