i’ve read 3 works by dostoevsky and this is by far the hardest to follow. our narrator’s arguments are long winded, convoluted, half the time following threads that he picks up and drops off out of nowhere only to circle back like he’s somehow had a Gotcha moment with us the reader. so yes it is challenging and confusing but i trust dostoevsky to make his point and make it stick

i’ve read 3 works by dostoevsky and this is by far the hardest to follow. our narrator’s arguments are long winded, convoluted, half the time following threads that he picks up and drops off out of nowhere only to circle back like he’s somehow had a Gotcha moment with us the reader. so yes it is challenging and confusing but i trust dostoevsky to make his point and make it stick
