I suppose it's kind of refreshing to see such an unapologetically unpleasant and scheming literary grandma. The writing's still heavy-handed and dated, though.

Wow, this is heavy-handed. Also, people do not think in entire diary entries, even when they're freaking out about their missing diaries. Random thoughts about ATM PINs was believable - this, not so much.

Annelise is so cartoonishly awful that surely even Jared will stop mooning over her. He's got Lindie as a backup now, so the author can still work some cousin romance in.

Oh Jared, it's not just your family. I'm sitting here wondering why you couldn't have an enormous crush on someone to whom you're not related.

I couldn't help myself and started a new book today. I'll try to guilt trip myself into squeezing out some reviews.

This is part of a project I'm currently working on to focus on books at my library that seem interesting but don't have many (or any) circs. We're doing a mass purge of our print collection (ebooks and the pandemic have definitely had an impact), and I'm trying to figure out ways to market what's left.

I really hate Annelise or whatever but, she is smart and JARED COME ON protect my girl Lindie.
