Status Updates From Calculus

Finished C15, tomorrow I’m finishing the book.

Did quite a lot today, got a new laptop so I’m reading the book from there now haha.

C14 done, quite stagnant the past few days but I am getting back up.

Speedran the rest of C13 today, not really as difficult as I thought since I’ve done it on Khan Academy as well. Next is C14 which should take a day and then two more days for C15 and one more for C16 and I’m free!

Anyways, C13 really wasn’t as bad as I thought it was. The last bit I was stuck but I was just under some pressure. After my mind is clear the problems were easier.

Growing bored, honestly. Just wanting to finish this so that I could get on with other stuff. On C13 now, maybe I’ll finish the book in one more week.

Finished C11 Linear Algebra, again it’s pretty easy and a nice break from the calculus stuff. However, C12 and beyond will take a while since they’re more advanced calculus… hope to finish C12 and some C13 tomorrow. C13 seems to be the longest chapter yet. Also, probably the last math book I’ll read before university, I want to do other stuff is all. Maybe I’ll try discrete math though, thinking about it.

Finished C10, it was pretty interesting with all the approximation methods for ln 2 and π. Series is definitely one of the more interesting but difficult bits of calculus, especially convergence tests.

C11 is some introductory linear algebra it seems like. Mostly already studied but it’s a nice change of pace from the calculus. I’ve grown to like matrices more than vectors.

I haven't quite finished C10 yet, but I'll get to that and some of C11 as well tomorrow.

Finished C9 Polar Coordinates and Complex Numbers. I’ve learnt everything apart from using complex numbers to solve differential equations, so this chapter was quick and easy.

Finished C8, though I skipped the last two chapters since they’re on engineering which I am not interested in learning. Most of the stuff I’ve learnt already so the chapter wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Nothing particularly remarkable apart from the normal distribution as an integral, cool stuff. Also, seeing statistics in a more “mathy” way is certainly interesting.

Finished C7. A lot of it I’ve learnt already so it was faster this time expect for some trigonometric issues. Pretty cool that I learn about the gamma function for the first time, have seen it before but didn’t understand and now I do!!!

C6 done, another pretty big chapter. Quite tired today.

Finished C5 today. The book definitely is not an easy read so far. However, I got most of the important bits done. It’s a good balance between pure concepts (proofs) and applied concepts (approximations).

Finished C4, now on C5 which should take two days. I’m not rushing it this time since the book is actually quite long to read than I expected. I expect to finish this in early November, and then I’ll read two more maths books before I call it a day for the months afterwards. I’ll just be reading more, taking online classes, etc.

Now on C4, been procrastinating the past few days but I should stop doing that. Doing maths late at night is not healthy at all.

A little tougher of a read that I thought it would be, but so far it’s not too bad. Finishing chapter 3 tomorrow.
