Now that Elizabeth is gone & Dhari + Mary have moved across the ocean, I’m struggling to care. Richard & Aslam’s ‘ship is all I really GAF about anymore...I have zero interest in Bates, Aldwell, John’s newest mental breakdown, or Susan’s tepid angst. I’m so ready to move on to fresh faces in Book 6. 😑 Methinks MH was also; aside from Elizabeth’s thread it feels like her heart wasn’t in this one.

Harris must’ve been allergic to happy endings. You’d think at least *one* of these characters would eventually stumble into a HEA, if only by accident. But nope. The only way to get a positive closure in Eden is to leave the series—just ask Dhari & Andrew. :P

‘“Heaven!” she heard Elizabeth gasp, & looked back to see her just stepping into the hot water. There was a slight wince as the lacerations on her ankles came into contact with the water. But the discomfort was short-lived. With help she eased all the way down into the water, her eyes closed, face lifted. “Oh, madame, it is heaven.”’ ....RIP, Elizabeth. This series will miss you. ;__;

—“Did I...?” he began again. “Was I responsible for...driving you away?” he managed at last.
—Again she was shocked by the ingenuousness of the question. Of course he was. “No,” she lied. “I would have gone anyway.”
....I can believe Elizabeth would’ve left, but WTF does everyone keep trying to coddle John?! He’s a grown-ass man who acted like a fucktard. Stop babying his feels, already!

‘The whole ridiculous home guard lounged less than 50 feet away in a patch of sweet fragrant clover—that is to say everyone lounged except the madman himself, Bates, who stood at a semistiff angle, his gaunt face taut w/ condemnation of everything he saw, the two of them primarily, but also such gross offenders as the green grass, the brilliant sun, & the lace of whitecaps on the channel.’

“I find it difficult to believe that the family who gained so much in so many ways from John Murrey Eden find it inconvenient to come to him in his time of greatest need.” ....LOL. Sure, honey. What a nosy little holier-than-thou. Alex is more polite to her than I’d have been.

‘He took advantage of the distraction & pulled completely free & once again grasped the dead woman to him like a thief, his eyes filled w/ a mad glittering light that spoke of other realities, & for a moment he backed slowly, defiantly away from them, nothing to impede his backward retreat from culminating in the sheer drop of 4 stories onto the gravel of the graveyard below.’ ....Poor bastard’s gone crackers.
