CONFLICT: The conflict is character vs. character because the main problem is between Matilda and Gerdie. Gerdie used to be on Matilda’s team, but now she’s a villain using a dangerous machine to open portals to other worlds. Matilda has to stop her before everything is destroyed. The two characters are fighting for opposite goals, which makes their battle the main focus of the story.
