Unfortunately, I’m not making as much progress as I’d like.
Finished book 2, which ultimately redefines the gift in terms of givenness by offering the gift in the phenomenological attitude having gone through three reductions so as to arrive at a gift outside the economic exchange, without objectity or being, without transcendence as perfectly immanent that which shows itself as it gives itself from itself

Mostly through book 2, which primarily deals with the gift and the necessity of bracketing the economic structure of the gift in order to discover the gift as such. Thus, one must suspend the givee, the giver, and the gift in order to reduce the gift to givenness and givenness to itself.
