I just love Kate Messner and the way she marries art, nature, poetic language, and informational nonfiction. MS teachers for the win! Also love that she wrote her first draft of this on a bus trip coming back from a field trip 🫶🏻

I love this book!

I loved how this picture book explored a winter habitat. Who was hibernating and how, where the animals were getting their food, what was happening in nature, but with a lyrical storybook feel and beautiful illustrations. I enjoyed using this to supplement our study of winter forest habitats.
