"Cornwall has as many families waiting for social housing as there are holiday homes in the county. The Countryside Charity has highlighted Airbnbs & other holiday sites, showing that in spring, Cornwall has 661% more short-term listings than there were 5yrs ago.

"The National Rural Crime network states that rurality & isolation are used as weapons by abusers. Their victims are isolated, unsupported, unprotected & failed by the system, local services & those around them. Domestic abuse lasts, on average, 25% longer in most rural areas & existing abuse is harder, takes longer & is more complex for rural victims bc there are significant additional barriers in such communities..

"On average, earnings in Cornwall are 25% below the UK national average. In addition to lower wages, Cornwall also has some of the highest costs of living in the UK. Housing is some of the most expensive outside the south-east and London with ten times price-to-earnings ratios in popular locations."
