Alfie kohn was ultimately accused of arguing against the status quo but a scientist job is at least in part to bring the data to our attention even if and especially if it flies in the face of current thinking.

The mere existence of non-competitive societies is enough from my vantage point to disprove that competition is inevitable.

My point being in essence that America has its head so far up the ass of competition that it needs to critically examine Competition badly because when something is as deeply embedded in our national ethos as Competition is the scrutiny the Sacred cow faces should be more intense than the scrutiny of ideas we're militantly against because this enables us to keep bad ideas out of the national ethos.

Furthermore, I feel very strongly that this is an Urgent volume given the degree to which the Competitive mindset has taken hold within the United States. Suffice to say the following: A civilization should be extremely cautious what values it seeks to reproduce and values it cherishes only selecting to cherish the most meritorious values, if we embrace bad ones we might destroy our entire way of life.

Quite Bizarre the fact that so much of Animal Cooperation misses television especially when you consider how adorable so much of it is. revealing how animals are far more cooperative than competitive.
It's strange to me too we have very cooperative cultures on earth some quite successful, and yet we stomach these bullshit ideas like humanity is inevitability competitive.
