So the author was just psyching us out for a second and I fell for it, but ultimately everything turned out exactly as predicted. I hate that I was right about the one person 😭 but at least that person was handled better than I thought they would be for what they did ...

Okay, she really did catch me by surprise with this one little development closer to the end. Let's see where she's going with this.

If you have ever read a Holt before then you likely already know what is going to happen at this point. I will be surprised if I'm wrong

I do like the "independent woman" theme of this book.

This is good so far. I'm sure I'll like it a lot better than the last one I read which was Mask of the Enchantress.

Oops, she messed up and now her big mouth has her sent off to stay with some old harpy aunt on a grand estate. This first chapter was very predictable and this book is shaping up to be classic Holt already.

I'm obviously not very far into this but it seems to be a typical Holt. Highly enjoyable, if predictable :)
