Set in 2058 but written in 1995, seems like the author either had a very attuned ear to the ground or was in some other way privy to info sequestered from the rest of us! Her 2058 NYC includes voice activated house functions, pervasive plant-based & artificial grub, "security" cameras on every streetcorner capable of facial recognition, & the criminalization of private gun ownership so that only criminals own guns.

Was an avid reader of this series in the early 2000's & am dazzled to learn that there are 63 total installments to date! Really no surprise as New York homicide detective Lieutenant Eve Dallas & the nepharious, charming, & handsome multimillionaire Roarke unwittingly team-up to become the murder mitigating duo of late 21st century NYC!
