Hughes is one of the rarest poets I've come across, a mix of an incredible intellect, the focus of a Romantic poet, that culminates in a shockingly otherworldly, inhuman perspective.

Also his pessimistic poems about love mimic a similar vibe to Renaissance coterie poetry which I really enjoyed.
