Reading about ww2 freaks me out because mine — and a generation of other’s — grandfather(s) made it back and like. We carry that epigenetically?. The horror of it; you’re told as a kid your grandparent fought in xyz war, but that only means so much when you’re a child. when you’re an adult, especially today when we are exposed to atrocities constantly, the reality of what that means is jarring.

It's finally picking up now. This is a book I find hard to pick up but somehow also hard to put down.

I've watched the movie, so I already know what happens, and somehow that makes reading Cecilia and Robbie's POVs even sadder knowing what's coming. And Briony makes me SO MAD.
Spoiler!! I didn't see his face, but I KNOW it was him, so I'm going to tell everyone that I SAW him. Meanwhile, the guy who actually did it gets to la-di-da his way back into the house. Infuriating!
