Status Updates From The Golden Bowl

Whhhhhy, whyyy am I like this ? Why do I make myself finish books I'm not enjoying just because an author (or someone I know) liked it, and I like them? Flannery is my girl...but I'm not sure if being laid up in bed with lupus like she was would even help me get through this one. I know it's good, I just don't understand 98 percent of it. So, I plod on...because I have problems.

So far I just have to remark that it's difficult to concentrate on what an author is trying to say when when reading his prose feels like a perpetual struggle to keep your eyes from crossing.

This was my beach read because clearly I hate myself.
