So far, the story reminds me of "How Green Was My Valley." Only instead of Welsh, I get to hear the West Country (Bristol, England) accent, my favorite since Doc Martin. The same accent may still exist on Ocracoke Island, North Carolina, and portions of Virginia that stayed more isolated.

I finally found an enjoyable audiobook from the library, and I finally found an audiobook read by Roger Allam! Good times are ahead for me. Several years after I watched the first few seasons of Endeavor, I watched an anniversary special on PBS featuring the original British cast of Les Miserables. And there was Roger Allam, of course!

I first heard Roger Allam's beautiful voice, about twelve years ago, while (whilst!) watching Endeavor (PBS prequel to Inspector Morse), back in Bristol (Connecticut!). I'd be so distracted by his vocal quality that I'd miss the actual dialogue. I'd have to rewind! At the time, I thought, I'd love to listen to him read an audiobook!

I finally found a wonderful audiobook available from the library! (Only #4 of the 7-book series on Hoopla.) I liked the description and the sample (Emilia Fox reader). I captured it after being on a waiting list and immediately started listening. To my very pleasant surprise, chapter 2, "Harry," sounded like a familiar voice. I checked, and of course: Roger Allam!
