I have to say that secondary characters make the story more interesting...

How many people wrote this book? The style varies wildly from chapter to chapter.
The Bloody Baron is bloody predictable and transparent.
The Bloody Queen is bloody brutal self and therefore predictable.
Ehandar is spineless and predictable with a bad Stockholm syndrome.
So WHY can't I put this book down?
Oh, yes - Anaxantis is notpredictable, he is consistent and strong. Love him to pieces.

Well, darn it, Anaxantis! And I thought he was smart :( Tanazis, too. This whole commotion (two books now and how many years - 13?) is based on the statement of a single person, who is rumored to have Mukthar's ancestors. Gah!

Emelasuntha is one crude, unrefined, unbalanced, ill-mannered psycho-witch full of hate. Her only redeeming quality is love for her son. But even then, she poisoned him with her universal hatred, too. Can't stand her.
