kinda bored, I’m not interested enough in Thomas himself or Toasters to be truly engaged. I do like learning about life cycle analysis but that topic factors in things like the cost of transportation as well as the afterlife of the product. but perhaps once he gets into removing the raw material from the rock he has collected I will find more engagement

I sense that plastic is the major challenge that the author faced. My question is why even use it? You could just swap the plastics for more metal and insulate with clay.
You can make something that toasts bread without all the junk in a toaster. Is he trying to build something that works like a toaster or that looks like a toaster? It seems like this is more about looks and commenting on economies of scale.
