I wish I could talk about this with someone and not a 400 word count limit 😭😭
LOVE hearing about the goddess Isis and all of her forms. Powerful and honored ; a mother, a goddess, a force of life and also destruction. It was thru these forms that women found power and meaning.
The men also revered these forms and goddesses

The bit about the land being the woman’s realm is alright; it’s a mystical thing, as it’s talked about here, being a part of the land.
Still othering though, and we can see how stories perpetuate the mythical woman as a womb and mother instead of a fully realized human person.

Trying to figure out why women are subjugated , going back to prehistoric times :
Men have been able to advance their life not by life itself, but by creation and action. Woman has often been bound to her body thru childbirth, therefore not allowing for projects and transcendence.
Humans value change and growth, not just life for life’s sake. Men have been able to do this easier, thus creating inequality

Also Beauvoir was so well researched. She understands physiology and biological processes better than most people I’ve ever talked to!
And how these biological processes and physiology relate to social subjugation and inequality. How woman is seen as the other, even from herself. How our bodies are a source of constant pressure, change, and distress.
