Surprised to learn that some of the treatments to clothing are still intact after 50 washings, but then amazed to learn, in a later chapter, that some are still intact after 100 washings (anti-stain, anti-insect, etc.) and I know that, at some point, I would have felt that was a good thing, preserving the purpose of it all, but, now, understanding they're using carcinogens to achieve that, it's a whole matter.

So many ways to dye fabric: I had no idea. Also, interesting how many steps there are in the process of treating the fibres before they even become fabric. New info for me.
Interesting bits about formaldehyde, a carcinogen, and how different countries track "safe" amounts, one at 20ppm, for instance, another at 75, some don't have a standard (like the U.S.), how random testing produces rates in the 100s and 1000s.
