Why am I reading this? It likely has very little literary value, but I picked it up anyway. The best thing in it so far is certainly the basset hound that repeatedly attempts to take its own life by walking into a pond, knowing full well it can't swim.

Disappointing. I knew who the killer was going to be before the first corpse showed up. the motivation was poor, and the characters generally too much over the top.

Two murders now. The story has gotten more interesting (finally), but I still can't stand the voice "acting" of the narrator/main character.

Finally, someone died. The narrator reads like he's in some kind of film noir, or a hard-boiled detective story, or like he's Joe Friday from "Dragnet."

Not so sure about this one. It's supposed to be a murder mystery, but the audio tape is half way done, and no one has died. It's been rather dull - although I suspect part of that is the deadpan reading by Gene Corbin, who delivers the (supposedly) humorous side comments with the same monotony as the most mundane of observations.
