Status Updates From The Dakota War of 1862: Min...

I thought I was further into this book than I am. It’s interesting. It’s describing a war and battles and all of it happened in Minnesota. Like there was a battle of New Ulm.

ok so it's not the most interesting read and some language is shit and it's not up to current interpertations and it's really very surface (as in it's mostly "this happened then this then this" without a ton of looking into why or anything) but the ordering of events is sound??? i didn't think it was very good as a whole but just as a summary of the uprising i guess it's okay

this book is much slower to read than you'd think it would be

...New Ulm, Gull Lake (Hole-in-the-Day was a Chippewa Chief)...this was a big deal and the predominantly German population was a sitting duck...few weapons, cordial dealings with the Indian until then...and the "real" army was fighting The South...perfect storm of opportunity and ineptitude...though we all know how this ends...
