Status Updates From A History of Western Philos...

Skipped the two chapters on Augustine due to familiarity. I'm finding the second half of the book to be a very clear and well structured synthesis of the theology of the middle ages, with a focus on Thomas and Erigena.

W. T. Jones is a very thoughtful historian of ideas. I appreciate a lot his causal and contextual approach to the history of philosophy.

Five stars to that philosophical historical account of the intellectual origins of Christianity and Catholic orthodoxy.

As a philosophy student I appreciate a lot W. T. Jones' clarity in writing, but most of all for his remarkable sense of integration in analyzing, from narrow implications in the philosophers' premises, to the wider causal relationships between philosophical movements, and their effects in political events and cultural tendencies and moods in history. I am very grateful that this part of my curriculum for the semester

I have nearly finished this. I feel like I should have a celebration. It is an, excellent but challenging, book. I look forward to moving beyond the Medieval Period.
