Ok, so we're going there! What a quirky story.

FINISHED. This book was weird, but in a good way. I thought it would be a simple story about a boy and his father, growing old together. Instead there's a bank robbery, a nasty banker, and suicide and eating disorders. When Shakes got bit by the snake and they went to the bank I thought he was hallucinating. I liked the full circle and I was surprised. Reading about the author, he seems weird and this book suits.

(112)(164) I liked the bit between Clarissa and Shakes. It seemed a bit more natural, but none of these characters or their interactions feel real. There's no big moments, it could be realistic. It's like there's a disconnect between the actions and words. I didn't expect Vaughn to kill himself, also I don't know how I feel about the nonchalance of C's ed, maybe that's more realistic. It's only big for the person.

I only stopped reading because I hit part two, and that means I have to take a little break. This book just got a lot more interesting. They've decided to rib the bank. I like this twist because I feel like there is no other way to get even with a sleazy, manipulative, educated banker. I wonder how this mismatched team will function. I wonder if any non-americans reading this were appalled by that bill? I wasn't.

For a somewhat realistic story, the dialogue doesn't match. Sometimes it doesn't even completely make sense. Everyone kind of has one liners instead of actual conversations. I don't like this whole banker taking advantage of his father. I don't like the story line. I do like the simplicity of them just living on the farm. I feel like this story is going to end with his father's death. Also, wth is Clarissa doing?
