This book came out just a few years after I would have picked it up as a tween. I can see why it captivated middle age kids, this would have been right up my alley (kids my age being naughty drinking wine, smoking, exploring Oxford tombs) - and honestly is right up my alley as an adult

Still surprisingly invested despite my volatile reading mood. It's also fun to see which parts I do remember (surprisingly a lot) and which parts have slipped from my mind. Also amazed at just how complicated and brutal the world building and how sophisticated the language is. You would hardly find any of this in a book for the same age group today.
