Sometimes I think Margaret Laurence must have been a brilliant woman and writer but for The Tomorrow-Tamer piece I was miffed by what today is called cultural appropriation, or misappropriation, to be politically correct. Surely an Indigenous background or upbringing does not totally cover the ground she covered in Ghanaian backwater villages . Ghanaians could probably speak and write for themselves.

Finished the first short fiction The Drummer of All the World . Stunning story immersing the reader immediately into the old Ghana , as seen through the eyes of a young boy . In retrospect, are we allowed to say Laurence would have understood drums ! Judging by this story, the drums spoke to her in a big way .
