I’m noticing some weird like… divisions happening here. All of the bad guys (excluding the big-bad) are crows, ravens, and jackdaws, without any other species involved. I don’t think it’s intended to mean anything but it still feels kind of weird past the surface level.

Weird “I’m a girl and I can do this dangerous task, even though these dudes are definitely more suited for the job” moment with an either weirder emotional reaction from the other birds around her, but it was written in 2007 for kids by a twelve year old and I remember being dramatic, too, so I’ll let it pass.

I would say this is probably aimed towards students in early middle school. It tends to lack detail and it moves very quickly. It seems very “you’re either good or you’re bad” too, so far.

Also, the repeating pictures for the characters… why not have new illustrations of whatever is happening instead of rescuing an old one?
