I don’t know if I can finish it! I just feel like it’s great, but not my cup of tea. It’s just too cheesy and eye-rolly. Like, Devon was with Ty for a couple weeks or months (?) and was planning on breaking up with him when he was killed in combat. She’s acting like they were engaged or married and expecting a baby together.

Around 2hour mark

I would give it around 4.5-4.7 rating. Points for the way the helicopter crash was handled, how they didn’t force the relationship to interfere with the rescue attempt. Some points off for the awkward sexual thoughts in the beginning which felt very out of place.

It was a long book, apparently took me ~15 hours to finish it but I guess I did stop to look up the definitions and explanations of certain words. The book really picked up around the 40% mark. I really got into it and enjoyed everything from then onwards. Thank you for explaining Ty’s death as well. Overall, a good read.

Okay hooly crap the helicopter scene was intense. Loved how the author went into detail about everything. Even the after-effects (Will’s injury etc.) were very well described. Really into it rn

The plot is okay and enjoyable I would say, but there is barely any variety in Cam and Dev’s thoughts. Almost always thinking about how it’ll feel if they did this and that. And it gets tiring at one point.

So much talk about military, just fillers... I am not connecting with characters.

This is the military, not junior high. The regulations against officers fraternizing with enlisted are not just about romance. Officers are not supposed to be buddies with enlisted either. These regs exist for a lot of excellent reasons, and the characters' treating them like annoying trivialities that interfere with their fun doesn't work.
