Feeling sad this morning, but thank you Ann Patchett. Super comprehensive.

than any voice, but at everyone’s core I think there’s just a desire for love and romance in everything. How do you find romance in the bleak? I don’t know, but I think it might be inevitable. And when you get to a place where you cannot find romance in anything, that’s when you’re really in trouble. I have a lot of love for this book, but that ending is so devastating I might not touch it for a HOT second

I am so, so, so, sad. Despite taking place in one house the whole time, this is an utterly worldly, necessary book. I’m feeling melancholy this morning anyway, so that definitely doesn’t help the tears. But anyway, this book is about romance, and the pockets of it we find to keep us afloat, putting it in a universal context. They don’t speak the same language, but they share the same love, and it speaks louder

—by hour. I hate to schedule, or feel busy, I like to take life as it comes. What I enjoy most are moments that make me lose that greedy artist, and forget the world around me. I like to live in a bubble of warmth. Sometimes I think there’s something wrong with that. I like to do what I do when I do it, though, and that’s always been the case, and I think it always will be. But who knows. I like simplicity.

“They lived their lives only for the hour that lay ahead of them.”
Oh God. I think I fool myself sometimes, and mark myself as this ambitious, greedy thing. And I think there is a greed in me, a locked self-obsessed artist who wants nothing more than to shine bright and burn fast, to be the star in my life’s tragedy. But I fool myself because more than that, I want this sort of simplicity. I love to live hour
