I love the scenery in these last two books especially. The visual of Chapter House is so beautiful

‘Major flaws in government arise from a fear of making radical internal changes even though a need is clearly seen.’

‘Ready comprehension is often a knee-jerk response and the most dangerous form of understanding. It blinks an opaque screen over your ability to learn. The judgemental precedents of law function that way, littering your path with dead ends. Be warned. Understand nothing. All comprehension is temporary.’

This definition of maturity just really helped tie the novels themes together for me— as in what even is/was the bene gesserits and leto2’s goal? Reinforces that aspect of humanity being free of prescience and able to choose decisions for thenselves more freely

— this may be a stretch but it reminds me of how many systems are built on the backs of those who are meant to be oppressed. And it also shows, if there is nobody left to be superior to, when are you going to begin the infighting?

Okay okay and when murbella says that those things r childish to her now, and this page put perspective on what ‘maturity’ really means- ‘Maturity imposes its own behaviour…’ this reminds me of how murbella reflects that the HM have a reliance on the BG though they do not see it. —

The HM being subjugated and now in a position of control being very reckless and brutal and absolute is an interesting angle, because the true people who control things aren’t going to be that brash. ‘Diversionary tactics’ in a new light, i know the intended point was scapegoats. But theres all kind of scapegoats for every side.

I like how with Murbella it goes into the appeal of such groups like the HM- the belonging and inevitable sense of victory
