they're so fucking lovely, what a realistic depiction of mature love. you can just feel all the respect and teamwork and understanding, all of the years of their relationship are present in every single interaction they've had so far

shohei immediately seeing through saku's slacker "i don't care about anything so i never try" act is SO good. he's not even angry at saku for not being able to stay late bc he's already pegged him as a reliable guy who gets his work done even if he isn't loudly enthusiastic about it, he's just angry that saku lets people assume the worst about him. that he actively ENCOURAGES people to do so

oh OUCH rintaro is seriously just an angel and i would like to personally punch every person who's ever judged him or assumed he was too scary to talk to. and ayato feeling all stressed about wanting everyone to get along and work together is so relatable oh my god he's also such an angel

okay so i did kind of get the existence of this ship spoiled for me before i started reading but to actually SEE it in action is a whole other beast and i am genuinely obsessed. i fucking LOVE a solid secondary couple, and i'm so here for the slowburn. they match each other's energies SO well, and they both understand each other's insecurities even if they've just barely scratched the surface of opening up about them

subaru teasing saku and making him sweat for once when he's usually the one being snippy???????? oh let's fucking go this dynamic is incredible. i love when the two more aggressive protector types start bonding and seeing each other be vulnerable, especially when they both have self-worth issues that need resolving

i wonder if there's more to read into with this whole empty bottle situation. saku was content to just let it fall cause "oh well it's empty anyway" but subaru was so relived to catch it before it fell despite it being empty. just bc it wouldn't have made a mess doesn't mean it wasn't worth making the effort to catch it? hm???
