I really don’t like this book.

I am so torn on this book. On one hand it has one of the coolest premises I’ve ever read; a Satan worshipping magician bringing about judgement day. But on the other hand it’s very overwritten at points and has a nasty habit of skipping interesting parts of the story and over focusing massively on less interesting parts.

We got to see a Demon in this chapter and it was amazing. Very disturbing and intimidating in terms of description. Reminded me of a cross between Robert Eggers the witch and the exorcist.

No sure about this one. The book has a great idea at its heart and some good creepy energy but is very over written at a prose level.

A really fantastic and spooky start

The dynamic between the different parties is so bizarre.
Actually it's the dialogue that builds this feeling. There are many ways to display a standstill situation between conflicting agents, this feels so dry it makes it look almost like a concise theater play.

White monks against black magicians. Weird snarky comments on women. Unnecessary one line stabs when the guy is already doing bad stuff.
