I confess I remember watching the movie, but it was long ago and the only thing I remember about it was I didn't understand it. The book is a fast-paced small town police procedural where we keep getting glimpses of a group of villagers (housewife, teenage basketball player, priest!) snatching unsuspecting strangers and SETTING THEM ON FIRE
