Just found something to love about this book. Ereshkigal is AWESOME. Only a couple pages with her in them so far, but she's easily the best character at this point.

Getting into some interesting territory idea-wise, but cliches are still murdering this book. She couches them in the guise of "using" fairy tales and stories, but she doesn't enfold them well enough to be convincing.

The pacing on this one's really weird. The first part of the book was very slow developing, then suddenly it's like every character lost his or her marbles and everything exploded at once. I also am not convinced that the actions of the characters in those explosive moments were entirely believable, either. I'll continue to give it a chance, but I'm reading now with a pretty critical eye.
