the closeness feels like 2 guys who were best friends for years, moved, and are reconnecting.

Be dumb 23 year olds, c’mon now. Don’t give me a 2 page explanation about how you won’t share your first draft of a novel with someone you met a week ago because it would be letting him into your heart too deeply by making yourself vulnerable. Dude you met him a week ago shut up. Stop being so self-aware and explaining 100% of your actions to the audience. Go be 23 for a hot minute.

I feel like I should be more invested by now? Maybe it’s only showing the perfect moments but them seeming to know each other so perfectly after a week of mostly avoiding each other seems implausible, with Jude being 4/4 picking clothes for TJ, informing him of his style, and being 100% right and TJ changing his wardrobe to fit? And they both are absurdly self-aware and explain every single action in the narration.

Jude why you act a fool? Seriously. Jealousy is truly a green monster, even when you don’t mean to be.
