A really good friend I knew back in my highschool days. Recommend me to check this author to help me get out of an odd mood slump for not starting and continuing the ACOTOR series (on book 3). While listening to an audiobook, I was enjoying the story and giving a vibes of a good classic fantasy. I am surprised it's a kids book. Maybe it's for older children after 10 or 12. But other than that, it's a good start.

The way Alanna doesn't learn to fight differently because she wants to defend herself, but to seek Ralon out and receive "satisfaction for all [she's] taken from [him]." Girls, or honestly mcs as a whole, are often taught to defend themselves, but to be better than their tormentors and not seek revenge. To only fight back when they come back again to bully them. Im glad she is allowed to stand up for herself.
